Paint it Ombre, hombre!

Here's the finished wall! Great project while husband and kids were out of town. The colors make me feel like I'm sitting by the ocean.

Materials:

  • Paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Masking tape
  • Ladder

Instructions:

  • Tape off 4 horizontal strips where main colors will be.
  • While still wet, remove tape.
  • Blend the line where each color meets.

Kids Clutter? It's a Wrap!

This weekend I picked up an armoire for additional storage in my daughters room. I chose it because it was large and could store alot, yet with the glass windows, it looked light and airy in the space.

I knew it was pointless to organize a display through the glass windows because my five year old would tear it apart in seconds.

This was a perfect opportunity to add additional functionality and custom color by covering the glass with beautiful wrapping paper!  Problem solved for under $5.00! Whooohooo!

Later, when she's older, the paper can easily be removed to reveal the glass as originally intended.

Here's how I did it:

Materials:

  • Wrapping paper
  • Foam Core

Tools:

  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Spray mount
  • X-acto knife

Instructions:

  1. Take measurements for window.
  2. Spray mount wrapping paper to foam core.
  3. Use X-acto knife to cut foam core to size.
  4. Press foam core pieces into windows, and you're done!
Before                                                                     &nbs…

Before                                                                                                                       After

I went with a pink and turquoise floral print to layer into the Bohemian vibe of the room.

It's MUCH easier to spray mount wrapping paper to foam core first and then cut BOTH out at same time vs. cutting one and trying to match to the other. When pressing the foam core into the windows, if there were any areas that needed further trimming, I marked them w/ a pencil, trimmed the edge and pressed back into window.

Voila!

Childhood

One of the things that makes childhood so precious are those magical moments we have all experienced. I see them now with my own children and from this vantage point, as an adult, they're so small, so simple and so profound. Here are some photos that catch those moments that just make me smile.

Designer of all things Kiddo

Hello people!

I've decided to start a blog to share with you my thoughts on imagination, play and design. One of my greatest joys is to explore the world looking for that magical combo of whimsy and great design. Here's some of what I've discovered!

This is me after just finishing a mural I painted for sweet baby Zak. Check out more on the mural here.
